Right now she looks at the weather app on her Iphone and it tells her if it's going to rain in the next few hours and stuff like that. So a higher quality crisp display would be a plus as well as ease of use in looking at weather forecasts. I wanted something that my wife would enjoy too. I'm hoping to spend around $200 or less as a good starting point. I've been looking at stuff like the Acurite Iris, simply because I know someone with a lower Acurite model and they like it quite a bit. I'd really like one for our home and also as a way to connect with something he loved and explore the hobby myself and I love looking at data. We had some very basic and rudimentary ones growing up. He recently passed away and unfortunately due to his illness never really got to experience all the amazing advances in personal weather stations I'm looking at now. Not to start with a sad story but my dad loved weather, we loved talking about it together when I was younger. The panel heater example above was one of these when we noticed that the room they play XBox in gets cold in Winter but is very warm in summer.Īnother one was being late leaving the house for school - So I have a scenario to pulse the hallway and kitchen LED lights bright red for 2 mins when it’s time to leave (then reset back to normal white again).Hi everyone, looking for my first weather station. So that get’s my brain going and then I’ll come up with an automation solution (if it’s possible). So we (as a family) might notice or comment on something - “It would be useful if at xx time on a weekend this could happen…”. What I’ve found is that our system is evolving over time with new rules/logic/scenarios. My wife, not so much - but I don’t think she’s interested in knowing the finer details either! I suppose, in short, myself and my two kids (8 and 11 y/o) would have an interest and understanding of what the system is doing. That’s an interesting question, and something I hadn’t really thought about until now…
